A church of this name already existed in this place from the 12th century and had the peculiarity of having its belfry separated from the church itself. It is believed that its name comes from the fact that it marks a first stage for the pilgrims leaving for Santiago de Compostela.

The church was deconstructed in 2013, becoming dangerous due to lack of maintenance.
