Born May 1st, 1633 in Burgundy, Sébastien Le Prestre, Marquis de Vauban is an engineer, military architect and French town planner. He had repeatedly occupied himself with the fortifications of Abbeville, and in 1689 wrote a report on their rehabilitation. The boulevard Vauban follows the route of these fortifications.
